Helping families after school and on Shabbos
Many families approach us for extra assistance as they struggle with day to day life. An hour of your time can make such a difference to their lives.
These families include families with:
Special needs children, New borns, struggling emotionally or financially.
When:
After school, on shabbos and over the weekend.
Type of help
Homework help, supper time, taking out to the park etc.
Minimum age: 13+
Visiting Care homes
Visiting Care homes
Many Jewish residents would appreciate a visit on shabbos afternoon. A friendly face to say good shabbos to or to play a game of bingo.
When:
Friday afternoon/night (winter), Shabbos afternoon.
Type of help:
Singing, befriending, bingo, reading.
Minimum age: 11+
Kisharon Music sessions
Kisharon Music sessions
We are proud to be able to be in partnership with Kisharon and assist with some of the activities
in the assisted living. One such activity is a music session where the residents have a weekly
opportunity to showcase their singing skills and dance moves.
When:
Tuesday 515-6 (Monterpilliar)
Wednesday 530-630 (Leeside)
Type of help:
Adding atmosphere and encouraging the residents to participate in the music session
Minimum age: 11+(Male)
Hospital Visitation and shifts
Hospital Visitation and shifts
Join our amazing group of volunteers who visit patients in hospital and also provide their families with much needed respite.
Type of help:
Visiting patients, befriending long term and mental health patients, overnight shifts, day time shifts, shabbos shifts.
When and where:
On a daily basis in all London hospitals
Minimum age: 18+
Walking out to hospitals on Shabbos
Walking out to hospitals on Shabbos
Shabbos can be a really lonely time for patients in hospital as they may not receive the visitors and friends who would normally visit. This provides us an opportunity to walk out and visit them.
Type of help:
Visiting patients, befriending long term and mental health patients
When and where:
Shabbos in all London hospitals
Minimum age: 16+
Tuesday night packing session
Tuesday night soup packs session
Our Beis Yaacov volunteers peel, pack and deliver soup packets ready for soup making to some of our families who find this one less stress to deal with.
Type of help:
Peeling and cutting vegetables
When and where:

Age: 12-18
Cheder
Cheder for special needs children on Sunday morning.
On Sunday morning some of our families with special needs get some extra respite by sending their child to a cheder catering for special needs children of a certain ability.Our volunteers help run the cheder.
Type of help:
Davening, assisting with putting on tefillin, encouraging, assisting with the programme.
When and where:
Sunday 11-1 in Golders Green
Age: 16+ (Male)
Holidays and yom tov helping
Holidays and yom tov helping
On yom tovs and holidays a large number of our regular volunteers are away. At the same time this is a time where families struggle the most.

Hospital visits, Helping families in need. Visiting care homes
